Designed by Gustav Klutsis in 1933 to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of Karl Marx's death. All 4 heads are turnt slightly toward us as the viewer, but it is only Stalin whos eyes are staring at us, as though he was sizing up his enemy or facing down his critics.

Russian Revolutionary Posters tells the story of the development of the Soviet poster, from the revolutionary period through to the death of Stalin, revealing the way in which tumultuous events within the Soviet Union were matched by equally dramatic shifts in graphic art and design.

This poster collection of poster images is drawn from David King‰۪s own unparalleled collection now in trust with the Tate. David King was one of the world's foremost experts on Soviet art and himself an internationally acclaimed graphic designer.
