Best known for his nonsense poetry, notably The Owl and The Pussycat,åÊEdward LearåÊ(12 May 1812‰ÛÒ 29 January 1888) was an English artist, illustrator, musician, author and poet.
As an author, he is known principally for his popular nonsense collections of poems, limericks, songs, short stories, botanical drawings, recipes and alphabets including 'The Nonsense Book of Birds' and 'The Nonsense Alphabet'.
